Viavi Solutions (NASDAQ: VIAV) has launched its active performance monitoring service, ObserverLIVE, that can be customized and adapted to dynamic usage models. The cloud-enabled, subscription-based service is now available worldwide.

Viavi says this upgrade to its Observer network performance monitoring and diagnostics (NPMD) service meets the demands of enterprises with IT teams that need to get in front of network and service evolution on-premises and in the cloud.

According to Viavi's State of the Network survey, nearly 80% of respondents said they planned to use public or private cloud in 2018, and more than half said the majority of their applications would be in the cloud. Viavi says that GlobalWorkplaceAnalytics.com studies report the number of employees working remotely is growing, resulting in lack of control and visibility, and increasing IT teams' challenges in tracking end-user experience and SLA enforcement.

In January of 2017, Viavi unveiled its redesigned Observer platform, offering network performance management in data center network applications (see "Upgraded Viavi Observer Platform improves performance management for data center networks"). Viavi's new ObserverLIVE service, which assesses end-user experience in hybrid environments, can meet users' needs for access and use of core business applications. Additionally, Viavi says its ObserverLIVE virtual agents can support Fortune 1000 enterprises' geographic needs by certifying key business application performance worldwide. Viavi ObserverLIVE tests feature the following functions:

· Troubleshooting: Deployed to end users' systems on demand to inspect and resolve performance problems.

· Network performance: Standards-based testing of network connections for critical performance indicators and performance baselines.

· VoIP quality: Assesses VoIP traffic delivered across public or private end-to-end connections for quality and consistency.

· Service responsiveness: Monitors availability and end user response times for on-premises and SaaS applications.

ObserverLIVE is enabled by the Viavi Network Integrated Test, Real-time analytics and Optimization (NITRO) intelligence platform. The company introduced NITRO capabilities for service providers last December (see "Viavi unveils NITRO for real-time multi-application test and measurement"). ObserverLIVE is the first offering in the NITRO Enterprise services category for enterprise and cloud network performance management, Viavi attests.

"Powered by the real-time intelligence of NITRO Enterprise, ObserverLIVE enables quick and efficient management of end-user experience anywhere, anytime, across hybrid IT environments, which is critical to solving the biggest issues in application and service troubleshooting," said Douglas Roberts, Viavi vice president and general manager, enterprise and cloud business unit. "As the only vendor offering both traditional and SaaS-based solutions for network performance monitoring and diagnostics, Viavi excels at helping enterprise IT build a flexible, scalable structure to solve tomorrow's problems, today."
