Raptor Networks Technology to unveil 10-Gigabit multilayer Ethernet switch at Networld+Interop
April 27, 2004 Aliso Viejo, CA-- Raptor Networks Technology today announced its plan to introduce the first of its family of 1- and 10-Gigabit Ethernet multilayer switches. The Ether-Raptor ER-1010 will be unveiled at the Networld+Interop in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 11-13, 2004.
The company's booth (#559) located in Start-up City will showcase the first of a complete suite of 1- and 10-Gigabit Ethernet multilayer switches. The Ether-Raptor ER 1010 supports up to 6 10- Gigabit Ethernet optical ports and 24 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports, at layers 2/3/4 in a small form factor. Raptor's unique switching approach provides an optional, expandable distributed switch architecture, which allows up to 16 Ether Raptor ER-1010s to be internetworked and appear as one logical switch.
"The Ether Raptor ER-1010 is the first of our family of new products, delivering 10-Gigabit rates at true wire speeds, with advanced networking features at a fraction of the cost of traditional switches," noted Tom Wittenschlaeger president and chief executive of Raptor Networks Technology.
"More importantly," continued Wittenschlaeger, "this capability can be seamlessly adapted as a performance adjunct within an existing, traditionally architected network."
Raptor's family of multilayer switch designs offers a secure, fully fault-tolerant and high-performance distributed architecture that is easily managed and maintained. The multilayer switches are well suited to address applications in clustering, carrier networks, storage area networks, campus networks, government, education and medical networks. Raptor provides standards based and unique patent pending switching technologies that are modular and can benefit networks that incorporate newer applications such as video, VOIP, storage networks and other high-bandwidth network applications. The company's "Distributed Network Switching Technology" enables upgrading of networks with switches to provide more advanced management of these new applications.
The unique advantage Raptor achieves is data transport at wire speed (the maximum speed at which the equipment is built to operate). This is the highest density 10-Gigabit wire-speed offering currently on the market, according to the company. Raptor has recently applied for nine utility patents on design layout of Raptor switches and anticipates filing for sixteen additional patents.
During the Networld+Interop, Raptor Networks will hold afternoon and evening sessions at a suite in the Stratosphere Hotel for briefings.
