AUGUST 1, 2006 -- fSONA Systems (search for fSONA) has announced the appointment of Russell Johnson as vice president, government programs. A longtime sales and business development executive, Johnson will be responsible for sales, business development, and channel strategy for fSONA's SONAbeam portfolio of optical wireless products (search for info on this technology) within the public sector.
"As the market for broadband wireless solutions continues to grow and mature, our methods for reaching those government customers needs to expand, " said Sunny Taylor, fSONA's president and CEO. "Russell fills a critical position on the fSONA public sector team -- providing sales and channel leadership along with government market experience. Russell will not only focus on our service providers in the market, but also work with government integrators and solutions providers. His extensive experience in sales, channel management, and strategic planning are a welcome addition to the team."
Prior to joining fSONA, Johnson was director, government programs for GigaBeam Corp. In that position he was responsible for introducing the company's millimeter-wave products into the U.S. intelligence community, major systems integrators, and large telecommunications carriers. Throughout his career, he has held senior-level positions with numerous IT companies/integrators, including CyberServices, Inc., Lockheed Martin, Computer Sciences Corp., GTE/Contel Federal, and GTE-Telenet.
