AUGUST 25, 2006 -- Enablence Technologies Inc. has entered into a contract manufacturing agreement with Advantech Advanced Manufacturing Services that will allow Enablence to move from prototypes to an initial low-volume assembly line as a first step towards building a high-volume production capability.
Company sources indicated previously that AdvantechAMS likely will be the first of two manufacturing partners, with the second providing high-volume resources.
"AdvantechAMS will become a part of Enablence's supply chain, responsible for the production of low to medium volumes of our Fiber-to-the-Home modems," explained Arvind Chhatbar, the CEO of Enablence. "Enablence has been extremely pleased with the work that the AdvantechAMS team has done for us and we are pleased to expand the relationship."
AdvantechAMS is an electronics manufacturing services company located in Cornwall, Ontario, with corporate headquarters in Montreal, Quebec. AdvantechAMS focuses on high complexity, medium-volume products incorporating radio frequency, fiber, and other high-end technologies needed primarily in the communications marketplace.
"Enablence Technologies; their chip technology and the rollout of fiber-to-the-home have attracted a great deal of attention in North America," commented Gilles Charbonneau, the president of AdvantechAMS. "AdvantechAMS is excited to participate in the rapidly growing fiber-to-the-home market and we are thrilled to have been selected by Enablence Technologies as their local manufacturing partner," added Charbonneau. "AdvantechAMS will initially develop for Enablence Technologies a production capacity of up to 5,000 units per month."
