Atlantic Metro Communications, Rainbow Broadband partner in NYC

JANUARY 5, 2009 -- Atlantic Metro Communications and Rainbow Broadband say their fully meshed, dual-path offering combines terrestrial fiber and microwave technologies to support diverse, redundant business-class broadband service in the New York Metro market.

JANUARY 5, 2009 -- Atlantic Metro Communications, a managed ISP offering colocation, metro transport, dark fiber, IP bandwidth, managed hosting, and voice services, and Rainbow Broadband, provider of broadband connectivity to the New York business community, today announced that they have partnered to provide New York City businesses a fully-meshed, diverse, and redundant business-class broadband service that they claim rivals any competitor in the New York market.

It is estimated that only 10% of buildings in New York City are adequately wired to handle the growing demand of corporate businesses' large Internet bandwidth requirements. This will continue to be an ongoing problem for building owners and operators, since broadband Internet connections enable ubiquitous digital communications.

By collaborating to offer New York City businesses broadband connectivity services, Atlantic Metro Communications says its network will enable Rainbow Broadband to offer high-bandwidth services to traditionally low-speed buildings currently relying on traditional incumbent network options. In addition, Rainbow Broadband's WiMAX network enables efficient last-mile connectivity, complimenting Atlantic Metro's New York City metro Ethernet network. Together, the companies say they provide a fully meshed, dual-path, redundant network that leverages the latest terrestrial and wireless networking technology.

"Today, more businesses require and rely on high-bandwidth Internet connections, and now commercial building managers have a reliable, easy-to-provision, high-technology solution that will more than meet businesses' growing Internet connectivity requirements in the market."

Services can be provisioned within a couple of days to meet special event requirements and can enable high-speed connectivity for full building deployment within 30-45 business days, say the companies. The service offers a completely diverse network from the incumbent providers and comes with a competitive service level agreement, 24 x 7 managed network support, and 24 x 7 customer service support in network speeds from 2 Mbps to multiple Gigabits.
