JUNE 24, 2008 -- Reflex Photonics (search for Reflex Photonics) says that it will partner with MergeOptics (search for MergeOptics) to develop and market joint products that address the growing demand for high-speed parallel optical interconnects in enterprise communication and networking environments.

MergeOptics initially will launch a branded line of Snap 12 MSA and QSFP MSA parallel optical modules, using Reflex Photonics' LightABLE optical engines. The parties will also collaborate on advancing the state of high-speed interconnectivity by bringing to market several offerings based on bi-directional 12 channel x 10-Gbit/sec active optical cables, again powered by Reflex's LightABLE optical engines, to support higher speed developing standards such as 100-Gigabit Ethernet.

"After an extensive search of the industry, we are very pleased to find a partner like Reflex Photonics to help us provide our customers with high-speed parallel optical products that are world class in both integration and performance," said Dag Neumeuer, CEO of MergeOptics. "We feel that Reflex Photonics' LightABLE technology coupled with our manufacturing and sales and marketing capabilities will allow us to sharply broaden our product line mix to meet the accelerating growth of the global market requirements for very high speed parallel optical products."

MergeOptics will have access to Reflex Photonics' line of QSFP Parallel Fiber Optic Transceivers in addition to its line of SNAP 12 Parallel Fiber Optic Transmitters and Receivers. This includes Reflex Photonics' recently announced 60- and 75-Gbit/sec modules, which provide channel speeds of 5 and 6.25 Gbit/sec per channel, respectively. These two new, upgraded modules are additions to the 40-Gbit/sec aggregate products, which provide channel speeds of 3.5 Gbits/sec per channel.

"We are extremely proud to partner with an innovative company such as MergeOptics as we continue our quest to provide the industry with faster connectivity and cost-effective solutions to achieve both the highest bandwidth and highest packaging density in the most data intensive operating environments," said Gary Moskovitz, president and CEO, Reflex Photonics. "We feel that by combining our technology expertise with MergeOptics' experience we can provide the highest quality solutions available that will drive the growth of the industry and help customers achieve fast, reliable performance at a reasonable cost and with the benefits of lower power requirements and improved signal fidelity."
