MARCH 31, 2008 -- PD-LD Inc. (search for PD-LD) says it is now in full production of the PW85ST and PW13ST modules, utilized primarily for video transmission systems. These devices are designed to support full-duplex communications over standard 50-micron core and 62.5-micron core multimode fiber and are equipped with an ST connector interface.

"Our PW85ST and PW13ST parts offer a replacement solution for security equipment designers and other groups that currently rely on the Zarlink MF699 and MF799 units," said Dr. Vladimir S. Ban, PD-LD president and CEO. "PD-LD hopes to fill this niche market following Zarlink's recent end-of-life announcement concerning its own line of modules."

The small, compact PW85ST and PW13ST transmitter and receiver modules operate in the 850- and 1300-nm optical windows using LED light sources. Both are designed to simultaneously transmit and receive over a single optical fiber at frequencies from DC to 200 MHz. They are tested for conformance to specification and meet industrial operating temperature ranges of -40°C to 85°C, according to the company.
