According to the market and technology forecast consultancy's new market forecast and analysis of the global market consumption and technology trends of fiber optic component/module type attenuators, the worldwide consumption value of such devices reached $125 million in 2007. ElectroniCast forecasts an increase to $213 million in 2012, with strongly rising quantity growth partially offset by a continuing decline of average selling prices.

The report provides the figures for 2006 and 2007 and a five-year (2008-2012) forecast of the consumption of fixed (in-line and panel-mount/bulkhead) and variable (manually controlled and electronically controlled) optical attenuators (VOAs), segmented into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific Region (APAC), plus Global summaries. The global forecast is also segmented into the following major application categories: Telecommunications, Private Data Networks, Cable TV, Military/Aerospace, and selected Specialty applications. ElectroniCast's global forecast of fiber-optic attenuators, in terms of the number of units (quantity/each) and average selling prices, are also presented.
