18 October 18 2002 -- Transmode Systems AB, a Swedish supplier of optical transmission systems, strengthens its position on the American market by appointing Jim Lang as Vice President of Sales, USA.
Transmode Systems has developed a product portfolio based on CWDM that is very cost effective for the metro and access networks. The company is now in a phase where the product is commercially available and has been installed in a large number of networks in Europe, USA and Asia.
To capitalize on the initial success, Transmode is now growing the sales organisation on the most important markets. Apart from the Swedish sales force, Transmode has local sales organisations in the UK and in Germany. This is now expanded to cover USA as well, by the appointment of Jim Lang as Vice President of Sales, USA.
Jim Lang has previously held VP Sales positions in a number of companies on the US market, including Astral Point Communications (acquired by Alcatel), Pirelli Optical Systems and Next Level Communications.
Transmode entered the US market in December of 2001, by winning a contract from Stealth Communications in New York. Since then the US activities have increased substantially with two new major contracts from American customers in the Media and Enterprise segments as well as follow-up orders from Stealth.
"To appoint a VP of sales in the US is a natural step for Transmode, given how the market is developing for us. Having local presence on the US market is very important and simplifies our sales efforts significantly, and we are very confident that Jim Lang is the right man for the task", says Isaac Olasoko, CEO at Transmode Systems.
"Transmode's overall value proposition for CWDM products, the existing management team and their commitment for success in North America brought me here", says Jim Lang. "In the market we are challenged today, it's refreshing to be working with a company with real products being used by many carriers today".
