Vectronics to distribute OMM's MEMS switches in Israel

20 September 2002 -- Vectronics is to become the sole distributor for OMM's MEMS-based optical switching components in Israel.

20 September 2002 -- Vectronics Ltd - which is located in Herzelia, Israel - is to become the sole distributor for the MEMS-based optical switching components of San Diego-based OMM Inc in the Israeli market.

"Vectronics has an established track record in selling next-generation optical solutions in a region where we see significant potential for our products," said OMM's director of sales Ken Falta.

"Their product portfolio has enormous potential in the telecom equipment market in Israel," adds Moshe Balasiano, vice president of sales for Vectronics.

OMM's commercially available products include optical add-drop switch arrays, 4x4, 8x8, 2x16, 16x16 and 32x32 all-optical switching modules. Also, in July OMM and Lightwave Microsystems Corp announced an agreement to develop a new generation of wavelength management and switching products based on micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and planar lightwave circuits (PLCs).
