11 November 2002 -- OFS, developer of fibre-optic products, has announced its Specialty Photonics Division has posted leading fibre-optic engineer, Dong Hui Wang, to Beijing, China from its Broendby, Denmark, facility.

The newly-formed post reinforces OFS' commitment to the growing telecommunications market in China. Mr. Wang will be the local point of contact and technical expertise for Chinese purchasers of fibre-optic products from OFS's Specialty Photonics Division.

"In the midst of a worldwide telecommunications slump, China continues to provide opportunity for growth among otherwise-hurting optical fibre suppliers," said Mr. Wang, Applications Engineer, OFS. "The move to provide on-site support not only demonstrates OFS' confidence in the Chinese market, but allows us a competitive advantage in establishing purchasing loyalty within the country.

OFS' Specialty Photonics Division, operating through local distributor, Seasun, and U.S.-based managing director of sales, Dr. Lin Huang, offers China a broad range of specialty optical fibres, cables, assemblies and high-end components. Among the latest technologies available in China are polarization-maintaining, coupler, bend-insensitive, and Hard Clad Silica (HCS®) fibres, Optical Channel Monitors and RightWave™ Tunable Dispersion Compensating Modules.

Mr. Wang, born in China and educated in Denmark, speaks Mandarin Chinese, English, and Danish fluently.
