JANUARY 8, 2007 -- ADVA Optical Networking (search for ADVA Optical Networking) today announced that Exponential-e, a UK provider of tailor-made Ethernet solutions to the corporate market, is deploying products from the ADVA FSP 150 family into its next-generation network. Featuring ADVA Etherjack technology, this provides Exponential-e with the Ethernet demarcation required for advanced end-to-end service monitoring and remote operations, administration, and maintenance (OAM).

With 84 UK points of presence, 11 of which are situated in London, Exponential-e manages one of the UK's largest Ethernet networks, according to the systems vendor. Its transatlantic connection extends this network to the USA, and global reach is provided through strategic agreements with like-minded network providers. This reach enables Exponential-e to offer tailor-made connectivity solutions on a worldwide scale, including converged access to a range of business services, such as voice over IP (VoIP), Internet, managed storage, video surveillance, and colocation.

Comprising a range of medium to large enterprises, including financial organizations and media groups, Exponential-e's customers require strict control of their data and voice traffic, so that each can be monitored at the appropriate service level. The innate ability of ADVA Optical Networking's Etherjack functionality to separate data and voice across Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) ensures traffic is secure and in the right location. When problems arise, Etherjack's OAM capabilities enable rapid fault resolution. Using remote platforms to monitor, test, diagnose, and resolve issues, Exponential-e is able to reduce truck rolls and operations expense (opex).

Adrian Hobbins, Exponential-e's CTO, commented, "ADVA Optical Networking is helping us to extend the benefits that we already deliver in our core network into the customer premise. Their Etherjack technology allows us to reduce complexity, actively monitor the last mile, diagnose, and resolve issues without any loss of service and ensure our customers are focused on the success of their business rather than the status of their network."

"Our Etherjack technology delivers a clear advantage as we continue to help service providers migrate customers from traditional offerings like Frame Relay and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) onto Ethernet solutions," stated Brian P. McCann, ADVA Optical Networking's chief strategy and marketing officer. "With a rich feature set including demarcation devices and monitoring capabilities, the ADVA FSP 150 family is able to provide high quality of service (QoS) and monitor service-level agreements (SLAs) more stringently than any competing last mile technology."
