MARCH 2, 2009 -- The new AireLite 100 and AireLite 100E combine low cost-per-bit transport, highly secure transmission, Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, and fully featured network management capabilities within a compact size that is easy to install, say Lightpointe representatives.

MARCH 2, 2009 -- LightPointe (search Lightwave for Lightpointe), designer and manufacturer of ultra high-speed outdoor wireless point-to-point network bridging equipment, has introduced a new addition to its optical wireless product line. According to the company, the new AireLite 100 and AireLite 100E combine low cost-per-bit transport, highly secure transmission, Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, and fully featured network management capabilities within a compact size that is easy to install.

The AireLite product line is based on the design concept of LightPointe's FlightLite product line, which is deployed in more than 60 countries and is the best-selling enterprise optical wireless product on the market, claim company representatives. The new product provides low latency and full-duplex 100-Mbps Fast Ethernet point-to-point connectivity at distances up to 1 km, combined with the advanced and fully integrated AireManager network management platform that supports full web browser functionality as well as SNMP monitoring and alarm capabilities.

"The AirLite product is our new fully managed entry-level solution for LAN operators who have the need for bandwidth, but face the financial challenge of extremely high costs for laying fiber on a private campus or leasing expensive fiber connections from a local service provider," explains Heinz Willebrand, LightPointe president and CEO. "In these economically challenging times, we hear more and more from customers how difficult it is to find the right balance between the required access capacity to run bandwidth-intensive software applications and the high access charges to interconnect enterprise campus buildings. The AireLite solution provides instant connectivity between campus buildings and a compelling economic value proposition with a return on investment of less than six months when compared to high-capacity leased fiber connections," he says.

The new AireLite system adheres to internationally recognized laser class 1M eye-safety regulations, and the system can be deployed anywhere in the world due to the license-free nature of the optical transmission spectrum.

The AireLite system will be unveiled on the opening day of the CEBIT show in Hannover and shown to the public at the Pan Dacom Booth in Hall 13, Booth D47, and at the Laser2000 booth in Hall 12, Booth B01.
