CompleTel leases French lambda backbone

Sept. 27, 2001
Sept. 27, 2001--CompleTel France SAS announced it has increased its leased capacity in France from multiples of STM1 to a full Lambda (2.5Gbps) throughout its backbone network.

CompleTel France SAS announced it has increased its leased capacity in France from multiples of STM1 to a full Lambda (2.5Gbps) throughout its backbone network. Telia International Carrier and LambdaNet Communications have been selected as CompleTel's backbone suppliers in France. The new medium term contracts will provide considerable cost savings of over 50 percent on a comparable basis. Local loop services ordered by Telia International Carrier will also provide revenues for CompleTel.

The new consolidated ring structure of backbone transmission will enhance quality levels, relative to the hub and spoke network structure employed to date. The increase in capacity is required to absorb rising traffic volumes over CompleTel's network.

Jerome de Vitry, Chief Operating Officer, commented, "Homogeneous Lambda capacity across our French network will facilitate the ongoing integration of our existing services, and new product development. Marginal costs on growing long distance traffic will also be measurably improved in the near future, building operating leverage as CompleTel moves forward."

CompleTel is a facilities-based provider of fiber optic local access telecommunications and Internet services to business end-users, carriers and ISPs in France and Germany, with iPcenta Internet Data Center services in France, Germany and the UK. For more information, visit www.completel.com.
