26 August 2003 London Lightwave Europe -- Marconi Corp has launched a range of services that offer secure network management and information assurance. The new services will be made available from a new Secure Services Centre (SSC) built with BT.

The new centre was opened by Rear Admiral Rees Ward for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Neil Rogers, President of Global Solutions for BT, whose organisations will be the first customers for the secure, military-grade facility.

The SSC, originally designed for the MoD, offers other customers with strict security needs such as network operators, government departments, banks and financial institutions, a range of services operated in line with secure, military-grade communications procedures. The secure facility and portfolio of services builds on Marconi's extensive experience in managing operators' networks and outsourcing in the emergency services sector.

"Marconi and BT have a long history of working with the military and are trusted partners with secure, reliable technology. We have worked together with both Marconi and BT and are delighted with this new facility. There is now the potential to share its services with selected appropriate organisations in the wider public sector," said Rear Admiral Ward.

The SSC can meet the high-security needs demanded by many organisations today, whether based on perceived threats or simply managing risk to mission or business-critical infrastructure. Example services, all of which comply with MoD procedures, include:
- Secure help desk
- Secure alarm monitoring
- Mobilisation of field force & on-site security cleared operations.
- Corrective fault management to secure procedures.
- Performance management
- Secure inventory management
- Secure working procedures and process management

Mark Plato, Managing Director of Marconi Integrated Systems, said, "The launch of our new high-security services is an important addition to our services business and underlines our commitment to expanding our offering in line with our customers and end-customers' needs."
