Not every company is enjoying a smooth ride up fibers growth curve.

Not every company is enjoying a smooth ride up fiber`s growth curve.

c-cor Electronics Inc., State College, PA, will discontinue its digital fiber-optic business, located in Fremont, CA. The move, which will cost the company approximately $4 million to complete, comes after c-cor`s digital fiber activity lost more than $2 million over the first three quarters of fiscal year 1997. This year`s disappointing performance followed a loss of just over $3 million in fiscal year 1996. c-cor will focus on other opportunities, according to president and chief executive Scott C. Chandler. These include AM fiber-optic technology and other aspects of the distribution of voice, video, and data, particularly over hybrid fiber/coaxial-cable networks.
