SpectraNet International,

San Diego, CA, and the City of Anaheim have tapped Nortel, Dallas, TX, to supply the switching infrastructure, access network, and systems integration support for a citywide telecommunications system. Under terms of the two-year deal, worth more than $11 million, SpectraNet`s FirstWorld network initially will connect Anaheim`s government and major commercial districts to a 620-Mbit/sec fiber-optic loop. SpectraNet will lease 60 fibers from the city`s existing 50-mi fiber-optic backbone system in exchange for a percentage of the network`s gross and net revenues.
