APRIL 25, 2007 -- As part of a network expansion based on customer requirements, LambdaNet Communications Deutschland AG is connecting the cities of Coburg and Neustadt (near Coburg) to its European fiber-optic backbone network.
Using existing cable routes, this continuous network expansion will cover customer requirements that reflect the growing need for high-speed, top-quality data services even in small to medium size cities and communities, says LambdaNet. In the region of Coburg, LambdaNet offers scalable MPLS and Ethernet services to cover demand for Internet services up to 10 Gbits/sec.
In Coburg, as in all other cities, LambdaNet cooperates with local telecommunications providers to cover the entire region and to enforce partnerships with local providers.
Â
For example, süc // dacor GmbH, the local Coburg metro area network operator, receives LambdaNet IP upstream services in order to resell Internet services to customers using its own regional network. "We focus on providing local services in our region, with top quality being our primary goal," asserts Uwe Meye, managing director of süc // dacor. "The connection to the LambdaNet high-speed network allows us to provide carrier-level-quality IP services to our end users."
Â
In addition, Telenec Telekommunikation Neustadt GmbH, based in Neustadt (near Coburg), has also been connected to LambdaNet backbone. Telenec uses its own broadband cable and fiber-optic network to provide TV and radio programs, high-speed Internet services, and more recently telephony services. "Everybody talks about triple play today, and providing high-speed Internet access becomes more and more important," notes Wolfgang Schubert, technical director of Telenec. "The ongoing expansion of the Telenec cable services, based on LambdaNet's Internet Transit, and the connection to the dense network of one of the leading German service providers, are a guarantee both for us and for our end users to have access to telecommunications services of tomorrow."
Â
Since 2001, LambdaNet has been offering MPLS-based Ethernet networking at 10-, 100- and 1,000 Mbits/sec all over Germany. The carrier added 10-Gigabit Ethernet technology to its portfolio at the end of 2005.
