Reliance Comm/Tec Corp., Cleveland, and Shanghai #35 Radio Factory, a telecommunications equipment supplier in the People`s Republic of China, will jointly manufacture central office, distribution, protection and outside plant equipment in China for the PRC. Known as Shanghai Reliance Comm/Tec Co. Ltd., the venture involves the design, manufacture and sale of such products as crossconnect systems, cabinets and distribution terminals for copper, fiber and coaxial-cable-based networks in the telecommunications and cable-TV industries. From a 1993 base of 32 million access lines, the People`s Republic of China`s goal is to reach 100 million access lines by the year 2000.
