Japan Fiber Coatings, a joint venture between dsm Resins of Augusta, GA, and jsr Corp., plans to build a production facility for fiber-optic coatings in Tsukuba, Japan. jsr Corp. already operates a similar plant at Yokkaichi, and the new unit will double the company`s capacity. Production at the new unit is expected to start in the winter of 2000, and the company hopes to achieve production levels of 3000 tons per year by 2000. The acceleration of plans for Japan`s national fiber-optic network led to the company`s expansion plans.
