22 November 2002 -- Seiko Instruments (SII) has been appointed as exclusive distributor for Data-Pixel's Koncentrik Measurement System, in Europe, Israel and Africa.

Koncentrik is a multi-functional system for testing and measuring fibre-optic ferrules and cable assemblies. It guarantees a quality control of the highest optical performance for a given termination.

The modular system includes an interferometer module, a patchcord tuning measurement module and a ferrule concentricity measurement module. The Koncentrik Interferometer automatically measures the endface symmetry of connectorised fibres in a few seconds.

Numerical analysis subsequently determines a range of geometric parameters, such as the radius of curvature, the polishing apex offset and the fibre undercut.

The Koncentrik Connector Module measures the eccentricity of a fiber core with respect to the ferrule in which it is glued. It offers ± 0.15 µm precision and can also evaluate the angle of the offset of the fiber.

The Koncentrik Ferrule Module analyses bare ferrules before a fiber is attached. Specifically, it measures the eccentricity of the ferrule bore with respect to the ferrule's outer envelope.

Additionally to this system, a defect analysis software is offered. The Defect Inspector software images the surface of a patchcord and offers automated pass-fail classification.

Also new is PM Orientator, a software for the precise and automated measurement of the orientation of the strain elements of Polarisation-Maintaining fibres (PMF). Both, the Defect Inspector and the PM Orientator software work as stand alone software with nearly every microscope as well as in combination with the Koncentrik System.
