Sweden's PacketFront Network Products AB is hitting the restart button with a new name, new faces in senior management positions, and an appetite for international expansion. The broadband access network equipment company will now be known as Waystream AB. Meanwhile, Peter Kopelman has assumed the role of chairman of the board, while Heléne Köhler arrives as a new board member.

"This name change is aimed at creating clarity about our company identity as we start an international expansion outside Scandinavia," explained holdover Waystream CEO Johnny Hedlund. "This is where our new chairman, Peter Kopelman, and our new board member, Heléne Köhler, play important roles. Their expertise and experience from a number of leading positions in the IT industry, along with their substantial experience in sales, will strengthen the company as we now enter into a new phase with an increased focus on growth and international expansion."

Kopelman has held CEO positions in Sweden for Cisco, Microsoft, and Fujitsu-Siemens as well several executive positions with IBM. Köhler has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, with expertise in partner-based sales; she held executive positions at Office, IMS-Data, and IT-Hantverkarna, where she was a co-owner until it was sold to Dustin.

The moves come three years after PacketFront Holding AB created PacketFront Network Products AB as a separate entity for its FTTx router and switch products, then sold it to Fiber Access Holding (see "PacketFront creates new network products company" and "PacketFront Network Products sold to Fiber Access Holding").

Waystream says it has delivered more than 1,500,000 customer ports to utilities, city nets, and service providers within Sweden and other Nordic countries. It now hopes to expand into new territories.
