Connected America conference highlights telecommunication innovations
The Connected America conference took place in Dallas, Texas, this week, showcasing the evolving technological and policy landscape of enhanced connectivity.
BEAD funding, the digital divide, and affordable internet accessibility were important topics during the event as the industry deals with the end of ACP. In addition to sessions on funding digital equity, rural broadband challenges, and emergency connectivity, many experts discussed policy, business practices, and sustainability.
Several companies also showcased their products and solutions on the exhibition floor. Here are some of the innovations and solutions featured at Connected America:
3-GIS
3-GIS helps companies plan, design, construct, and support telecom networks. 3-GIS’s fiber network management solution promises to streamline operations by connecting essential systems through enterprise APIs that enable seamless data exchange.
The company’s web-based fiber management platform, 3-GIS |Web, considers asset locations and how assets interact to bring service to the end user. The solution can model complex telecom networks to locate outages and find the best way to provide services to new customers.
UCL Swift
UCL Swift’s All-In-One fusion splicers integrate thermal stripping, cleaving, cleaning, splicing, and sleeving in one unit, which the company says will reduce installation time and improve connection reliability. Furthermore, the company reports that the thermal stripper used in its system prevents cracks on the fiber that can be caused by manual strippers.
UCL Swift reports that its fusion splicers are ideal for LAN, CATV, or FTTx.
Actifai
Actifai offers AI solutions for telecom and broadband customer engagement. The company’s AI sales platform can be implemented by small and large ISPSs. Actifai’s series of products aims to help ISPs acquire, retain, and expand customer relationships.
Actifai harvests geographic, competitive, behavioral, and demographic data points to create prescriptive offers and develop sales points.
RaDD Network Solutions
RaDD Network Solutions focuses on developing and selling innovative network solutions. The company offers products, equipment, and application engineering solutions for all types of networks, with offerings ranging from vaults and pedestals to a variety of fiber optic cables.
RaDD displayed its FTTX vaults and pedestals at Connected America, which are designed with removable panels and skirts, allowing easier technician access.
Belden/Precision Optical Technologies
Precision Optical’s OpenPath promises ease, flexibility, and efficiency in PON network deployment and management.
The OpenPath PON Extender for XGS-PON is an optical module that allows for passive and extended-reach PON links up to 80km, enabling network operators to simplify and extend their PON footprint while eliminating the need to deploy remote OLTs in the field.
SpatialNetworX
SpatialNetworX promises to streamline the planning, design, and operation of fiber, coax, and copper networks. The company’s flagship engineering application, spatialNET, is a software program that helps users manage, analyze, and visualize data for different network infrastructure projects. The software is used by large and small network operators alike for network design and maintenance and provides spatial information and advanced modeling techniques.
SpatialNetworX reports that spatialNET is easily deployable and includes field survey tools and commercial CAD integration.
