Celestial AI announced on March 27 that it raised $175 million in its Series C funding round.
The funding round, led by the U.S. Innovative Technology Fund (USIT), also included participation from other investors like AMD Ventures, Kock Disruptive Technologies (KDT), and Smart Global Holdings (SGH).
The funding will support projects like Celestial’s Photonic Fabric™ optical interconnect technology platform, an optical connectivity solution that enables the disaggregation of compute and memory.
Celestial AI founder and CEO Dave Lazovsky said in a press release, “This highly oversubscribed financing round is another testament to Celestial AI’s position to disrupt the market and reflects the magnitude of business opportunity before us. Today’s advanced AI models require exponentially more I/O bandwidth and memory capacity but are currently constrained by low bandwidth and high latency. Our Photonic Fabric technology is rapidly becoming the de facto standard for accelerated computing optical interconnectivity, driven by unparalleled performance and efficiency.”
The company reports that its Photonic Fabric technology can deliver greater bandwidth and memory capacity while reducing latency and power consumption.
