3 February 2004 Atlanta, GA Lightwave -- Movaz Networks has reached a multi-year Global Master Purchase Agreement with MCI that enables the carrier to rapidly procure and deploy Movaz Networks' next-generation optical transport gear.

MCI began field deployment of the Movaz RAY product suite in 2002 after extensive testing through MCI's lab standardization process. Today Movaz Network's optical systems aid MCI in carrying live traffic in major metropolitan regions for a variety of applications including carrier-to-carrier, enterprise, and core infrastructure applications.

"We are extremely proud to have been selected by MCI as an established supplier. This is a tremendous endorsement of not only the Movaz products, but also of our execution in serving our customers," said Movaz Networks Chairman and CEO Bijan Khosravi. "The emphasis we have placed on quality, which shines through our design, development and manufacturing operations, has enabled us to pass MCI's most stringent network deployment standards. With universal fit for a multitude of applications in MCI's global network, opportunities abound as we continue to ramp up this engagement."

The Movaz product portfolio includes the RAYstar, an integrated wavelength transport and switching platform; the RAYexpress optical add/drop multiplexer, which can be configured in both DWDM and CWDM configurations; and the RAYextender amplifier family for regional multi-span all-optical reach. Software intelligence is provided through a fully integrated GMPLS optical control plane, supporting automated path setup and dynamic reconfiguration, as well as a graphical management system, the RAYtracer. With 18 months of field deployments, Movaz currently serves 43 customers worldwide.
