May 18, 2001--Switch and Data opened a third New York City colocation center specifically designed to allow network-centric service providers' equipment to interconnect with regional, national and global fiber optic networks.

Switch and Data opened a third New York City colocation center specifically designed to allow network-centric service providers' equipment to interconnect with regional, national and global fiber optic networks. The expansion increases the carrier-neutral infrastructure provider's Manhattan footprint to 40,000 square feet. The new facility, located at 111 Eighth Avenue, 15th floor, is over 50 percent pre-sold. The opening of the new facility marks a significant expansion for Switch and Data.

Switch and Data first secured a presence at the new address in June 2000 with the acquisition of Extranet, a carrier-neutral colocation provider with a single location on the building's fifth floor. Switch and Data's fifth floor center quickly reached capacity, and customer demand called for a new facility.

In addition to its two locations at 111 Eighth Avenue, Switch and Data also operates a Convergent Network Center at 65 Broadway, in the heart of the New York financial district.

About Switch and Data:

Founded in 1997, Switch and Data develops carrier-neutral, colocation shared telecommunications infrastructure facilities, called Convergent Network Centers. Switch and Data operates colocation centers, with facilities now operational in 34 U.S. markets. For more information, visit www.switchanddata.com.
