Terabeam and Telseon partner to offer free space optics and GigE networks

Sept. 26, 2001
Sept. 26, 2001--Terabeam Corp., a metro optical Ethernet service and equipment provider, announced an alliance with Telseon, a provider of metro optical networks, to integrate Terabeam's free space optic network with Telseon's scalable, secure metropolitan GigE networks.

Terabeam Corp., a metropolitan optical Ethernet service and equipment provider, announced an alliance with Telseon, a provider of metropolitan optical networks, to integrate Terabeam's free space optic network with Telseon's scalable, secure metropolitan Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) networks. The agreement will enhance both companies' metro footprint as well as addressable customer reach.

Terabeam's Fiberless Optic service connects businesses to other offices, the Internet and high-value destinations, like data centers and major carrier hotels, at fiber-optic speeds. Terabeam transmits an invisible beam of light (the same light of a fiber-optic cable) from a hub location through the air and primarily into building office windows to connect to Terabeam's metropolitan Ethernet network. The light speed connection available only with optical technology combined with the delivery times of Terabeam's through-the-air transmission means customers are connected in 30 days or less. Telseon's fiber network spans across 20 metros and inter-connects the largest bandwidth aggregation points (data centers, carrier hotels, hosting facilities) in each metro via instantly scalable GigE connections, effectively solving the bandwidth bottle-neck in the metro core.

Under the agreement, Terabeam will immediately extend its reach to into five additional Telseon on-net data centers in both Seattle and in Denver. Additional metros will be added as Terabeam's service expands nationally.

With Telseon, Terabeam's enterprise customers gain access to hundreds of specialized services from providers such as IP transit, storage, content and video conferencing. Telseon's service provider customers can now extend their services via Fiberless Optic technology to most enterprise customers in Seattle and Denver.
