Sept. 13, 2001--PhotonEx Corp., a developer of 40 Gbps network-wide smart photonic systems, unveiled its global manufacturing strategy designed to bring to market a 40 Gbps core optical system later this year.

PhotonEx Corp., a developer of 40 Gbps network-wide smart photonic systems, unveiled its global manufacturing strategy designed to bring to market a 40 Gbps core optical system later this year. Working with manufacturers, PhotonEx will ship its first product, an end-to-end DWDM optical transport system that starts at 40 Gbps and supports the highest deployable capacity across extended distances. With these capabilities, PhotonEx will allow service providers to reduce the cost of network expansion and maximize revenue opportunities.

The execution of PhotonEx' global manufacturing strategy began early with the development of a mature business infrastructure and strong relationships with top-tier manufacturing services providers, Celestica Inc. and Teradyne Inc. As leading manufacturing services providers, both offer significant cost savings and supply chain efficiencies for PhotonEx, resulting in an economical solution for rapid deployment of products to service providers. In addition, Celestica and Teradyne offer worldwide scalability with over 60 manufacturing facilities in all major geographies.

PhotonEx teamed with Celestica Inc. (NYSE, TSE: CLS) to provide electronics manufacturing services. The company draws on Celestica's supply chain management, test development, prototype manufacturing, circuit board assembly and test; and optical technology manufacturing services (OTMS) for both high-speed digitally based technologies and complex optically based technologies.

PhotonEx also joined with Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER), a supplier of automatic test equipment and interconnection systems for the electronics industry. The company utilizes Teradyne's systems assembly and test operation as well its VHDM-HSD high-speed differential connector and multi-layer PWB fabrication technology.

PhotonEx' manufacturing team operates from the company's newly renovated 150,000 square-foot facility.
