Fujitsu Quantum Devices and WJ Communications partner to develop 40-Gbits/sec optical products

Nov. 14, 2001
Nov. 9, 2001--Fujitsu Quantum Devices and WJ communications are partnering to develop 40-Gbits/sec optical products. Also announced is the initial shipment of the partnerships first device, a 43 Gbits/sec (OC-768 and STM-256 with FEC) driver amplifier module with output voltage of 6.0 Vpp.

Fujitsu Quantum Devices (Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan) and WJ communications (San Jose, Calif.) are partnering to develop 40-Gbits/sec optical products. Also announced is the initial shipment of the partnerships first device, a 43 Gbits/sec (OC-768 and STM-256 with FEC) driver amplifier module with output voltage of 6.0 Vpp. Module features include adjustable peak output voltage and eye crossing, and an output level detector and feedback loop to stabilize the output swing.

WJ Communications delivers RF semiconductor and circuit integration expertise to the partnership, while Fujitsu Quantum Devices is involved in the development, manufacture, and sales of lightwave, microwave, and GaAs IC compound semiconductor products.

Products resulting from the partnership will be jointly produced at the WJ Communications module integration factory in San Jose, as well as at Fujitsu facilities in the US and Japan.
