ADVA Optical Networking (German Neuer Market: ADV), a global provider of optical networking solutions, announced the completion of construction of a new 5,500m2 production and R-&-D facility in Meiningen, Germany.

The new modular building design incorporates a full glass frontage in an open plan layout. The first expansion phase includes 40,000m2 of already acquired land permitting a unique contemporary working environment with an option to purchase a further 20,000m2 for future requirements.

The new facility currently occupies a ground floor area of 5,500m2 with the potential to more than double this to a maximum of 12,000m2 for future requirements. The impressive new facility will support customer demonstrations and trials and provide a first-class training and production environment. An opening ceremony event will be held in April 2001 for customers deploying ADVA's metro access services, investors and local community members.

Stephan Offermanns, Chief Operating Officer of ADVA, stated, "The new facility will significantly expand ADVA's production capabilities. This, in conjunction with our continuous improvement program, managed by our ISO9001 quality management system, will enable ADVA to be more responsive to customer requirements. These enhancements will be realized both in product design and delivery lead times."
