Optiwave Corp., developer of optical design, modeling and validation software, today announced the formation of a technology development relationship with Design Workshop Technologies.
The two companies have entered into an agreement whereby they will cooperate on the development of a technology that will integrate Optiwave's waveguide modeling software, OptiBPM, with Design Workshop's dw-2000 physical layout and verification software. Per the agreement, Optiwave will market and distribute the technology jointly developed by the two companies, along with the OptiBPM and dw-2000 software packages.
The integration between OptiBPM and dw-2000, which will be in the form of a common interface, will offer users a complete solution for the design and manufacture of integrated photonic devices, claim company representatives. The development of a common interface between OptiBPM and dw-2000 will allow for a smooth transition between design of photonic devices and the creation of masks used in the manufacturing process.
"We are very excited about this joint development agreement as it will allow us to offer customers a comprehensive solution that will facilitate the design and manufacture of integrated photonic devices," says Velko Tzolov, vice president of marketing and sales at Optiwave Corp. "It will bridge the current gap between the modeling design and manufacturing worlds."
OptiBPM is a computer aided design system that facilitates the design of a variety of integrated and fiber optics guided wave problems. Dw-2000 is a physical layout and verification design system used for creating masks and verifying design rules imposed by the most advanced manufacturing processes.
