Emerson Network Power announced today that it is merging its Fiber-Conn Assemblies Inc. division and the optical division of LoDan
International to form a consolidated optical interconnect assembly group. The companies are combining their expertise in providing high-quality optical fiber cable assemblies used in data networks, telecommunications systems, and cable television transmission applications.
The new Optical Connectivity division will be headed by Michael Dahan, currently president of Fiber-Conn. The division will operate two product lines--Fiber-Conn Premise Products, headed by John Ehrenreich, and Enterprise Products, headed by Matthew Mannell.
Fiber-Conn provides products for LAN and WAN applications, complementing Enterprise's product line for the Storage Area Network (SAN) and Enterprise Computing market. The Optical Connectivity division will report to Harold Bevis, president of Emerson Telecommunication Products and group vice president of Emerson.
Optical Connectivity will be headquartered near Baltimore, MD and will have manufacturing operations in Maryland and New Jersey and in Casablanca, Morocco. The new division is also actively developing its European operations, with sales offices in France and the United Kingdom.
The merger continues an Emerson strategy to enhance its market presence in the optical fiber cable assembly market. "We see tremendous opportunities in the cabling and optical interconnect markets," explains Dahan. "The combined business will have a much larger group of engineering resources and we will be able to continue our product leadership in the markets we serve. Additionally, we will gain meaningful efficiencies by combining and streamlining the consolidated operations."
