STL announces self-certification of its BABA-compliant optical products
On January 13, the STL subsidiary Sterlite Technologies Inc. (STI) announced the self-certification of its Build America, Buy America (BABA)-compliant optical fiber cable products, verifying that the products meet the standards required of domestically sourced materials and products used in BEAD projects.
STL reports that this voluntary self-certification strengthens its position as a key supplier for federally-funded broadband infrastructure projects, and Rahul Puri, CEO of STL’s optical networking business, said the company’s inclusion in the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) self-certification list underscores its dedication to American manufacturing.
“It assures our customers that our optical fiber products meet strict BABA requirements and are ready to drive the next wave of broadband infrastructure projects,” said Puri in a press release. “We’re proud to play a key role in the BEAD Program, enhancing connectivity and bridging the digital divide across rural and underserved areas.”
In addition to self-certification, STI reports that it has invested $56 million into its South Carolina manufacturing plant to help meet the demand for federal and privately funded broadband projects.
