On December 16, the Broadband Forum and the HomeGrid Forum announced that Positron Access Solutions and ReadyLinks have become the first certified system vendors to officially pass the GHNA (G.hn Access) fiber extension certification program.
The program aims to help manufacturers ensure their infrastructure meets performance and interoperability standards, which, according to Broadband Forum CEO Craig Thomas, allows building owners to upgrade their networks over existing wired technology.
“When fiber cannot be laid or installed inside an MDU or close to the customer premises, G.hn Access technology is an ideal solution for TR-419 Fiber to the extension point deployments by reusing the existing telephone or coaxial infrastructure,” explained Thomas in a press release.
Tom Barnett, director of strategic innovation at Lumen and vice president of the HomeGrid Forum, said the certification program will help support a growing product market that uses G.hn technology as a broadband access backbone.
“Validating the interoperability of G.hn devices in a multi-vendor deployment is a huge milestone for all broadband players involved,” said Barnett in the same press release.
GHNA Certification is comprised of two parts: compliance and interoperability testing (GiGAWire testing) as specified by the HomeGrid Forum and performance testing (BBF.GHNA testing) as specified by the Broadband Forum.
The two newly certified devices are the Positron G1001-C and the ReadyLinks IPC-2TCP-RPF.
