SCTE 2024 product showcase—part one

Sept. 30, 2024
Broadband vendors and manufacturers displayed their solutions at the SCTE 2024 TechExpo.

During the SCTE 2024 TechExpo, broadband vendors and manufacturers displayed their solutions and products aimed to support the expanding broadband market.

In part one of our SCTE 2024 product showcase, we highlight innovations from Air Wireless, Airvine, and US Conec.

Air Wireless

DOCSIS wireless platform and products

Air Wireless leverages wireless extensions of existing broadband cable and fiber networks to bring high-speed broadband connectivity to more places, including underserved and unserved regions. The company’s proprietary DOCSIS wireless platform boasts coverage extendable up to 22 miles and downlink throughput of up to 20 Gbps, depending on the band used.

Air Wireless provides three elements: base stations, which can provide 360-degree coverage and can be linked to additional base stations to cover a broader geographical area; transceivers, which amplify upstream signals and ensure reliable bandwidth at higher frequencies; and management software.

Airvine

WaveCore

Airvine’s WaveCore is a point-to-point (PTP) layer 2 wireless Ethernet bridge that can penetrate up to 8 inches of concrete, delivering over 2.5 Gbps of throughput. WaveCore eliminates hurdles faced by traditional wired methods, like the need for core drilling, x-rays, inspections, and permits.

The WaveCore solution deploys two nodes, measuring 10.1” x 2.7” x 10.3”, that are installed on both sides of a concrete wall, floor, or ceiling. The product’s alignment tools enable quick, easy installation.

Combined with the company’s WaveTunnel solution, WaveCore enables wireless deployment of backbones in any building or floor plan.

US Conec

HEC-DC Connector

US Conec has introduced a new hardened fiber optic connector (HFOC), the HEC-DC. GR- and IEC-compliant and IP68-rated, the HEC-DC is versatile and enables high-density performance.

The connector’s 19 mm housing diameter makes it ideal for tight spaces, and it features US Conec’s DirectConec push-pull boot, making it easy to deploy and install. Blind-mate features around the ferrule prevent unwanted contamination and ensure proper alignment.

US Conec’s full suite of connector solutions is designed to exceed industry standard requirements to provide reliable optic cable infrastructure through multiple generations of transceiver optics.
