In-Stat: PVR Shipments to Exceed 50 Million in 2014

According to In-Stat (www.in-stat.com) research "Strong Demand for PVR Products Continues," global unit shipments of PVR products set a new record in 2009, and are well on their way to eclipse that in 2010. Fueled by consumer demand to time-shift TV programming, pay-TV service providers are deploying millions of new PVR products each year. The research house is forecasting that annual PVR product unit shipments will surpass 50 million by 2014.The research also indicates that PVR-enabled satellite set top boxes continue to be the largest PVR product segment, followed by cable set top boxes, and that in 2009, Motorola was the leading PVR product manufacturer with more than 4.9 million PVR product unit shipments.
