According to Digital TV Research, the number of pay satelliteTV (DBS or DTH) homes will reach 251 million by 2018, up from 178 million at end-2012 and 103 million at end-2008. The research house expects one in four homes worldwide to have a satellite dish by 2018. Despite that growth, pay satellite TV subscriber totals are expected to fall in 11 countries as subs convert to other platforms.
