Hoping to avoid the licensing troubles Aereo ran into, online video provider Giga Entertainment Media has received a multichannel video program distributor (MVPD) license from the FCC for its GIGANETTV service. FCC programming rules mandate that MVPDs be provided equal access to all cable and satellite programming and non-discriminatory pricing.

GEM also plans to launch SIMUL SEZ, an app for tablets and mobile devices featuring simultaneous multiscreen, multi-stream, multi-tasking and multi-user collaboration features and capabilities. The app is expected to come out in November.
