GameFly, a console game subscription service, announced a global partnership with LG Electronics to bring the GameFly Streaming service to LG smart TVs. The GameFly Streaming App will be offered along with other video and music applications. The GameFly Streaming App for LG Smart TV will launch in more than 20 European countries and the United States starting in late April, and is expected to be available in more countries shortly thereafter.
GameFly Streaming's technology utilizes the cloud to stream console video games over the Internet directly to the smart TV and other media devices without the need for a console or game discs. Most 2015 and 2016 LG Smart TVs will support GameFly Streaming. Supported game controllers include Logitech (F310, F510, F710) and Xbox wired controller.
Since GameFly launched its streaming service in 2015, the service has expanded to 56 countries, including the United States, Canada, Europe and Latin America.
