Universal Electronics (NASDAQ: UEIC) will showcase its newest remote control technology at IBC2014 in Amsterdam this September.

QuickSet enables a remote control to be set up and programmed to control any television or device in the home with minimal user input. It is fully compatible with the Reference Design Kit initiative, a pre-integrated software bundle that provides a common framework for powering customer-premises equipment. HDMI-based connections automatically identify device brand and model number of displays. Cloud-based services update the control codes for the newest devices on the market.

Control Plus helps consumers avoid mode confusion and switches to the correct input depending on the function. Remote buttons are automatically mapped to the right functions based on active content source device. A macro button intuitively sends the right commands to get users to the content select, and system control settings are automatically sent to establish universal control for second screen apps.

And, the Universal Application Protocol Interface supports advance control commands and makes the remote control unit future proof and scalable.
