According to predictions from Strategy Analytics, 15 trends are set to impact the digital home in 2015 in areas ranging from pay TV, OTT and UltraHD to tablets, smart home and gaming. The research house's predictions for 2015 include:
  • Google will shake up the smart TV space with Android TV.
  • 4K/UltraHD TV adoption will speed up, but a two-tier market will start to emerge.
  • Windows 10 will help bring PC sales back to positive growth.
  • Netflix will see a 30% decline in subscription growth in the United States.
  • Microsoft will launch a cloud gaming service.
  • YouTube Music Key will disrupt the current balance of power among music streaming services.
  • Tablet growth will return to double digits.
  • Tablet connections will become a growth driver for wireless service providers.
  • Global ASP for tablets will fall $15 to $240.
  • More OTT from traditional pay TV operators.
  • More multiplay offerings from operators.
  • Faster broadband thanks to new technologies and more fiber deployments.
  • Consumer spending on smart home set to reach $60 billion.
