Canadian service provider SaskTel has selected the ARRIS HomeAssure solution to support new WiFi services for subscribers across Saskatchewan. ARRIS is now part of CommScope (NASDAQ:COMM).
The HomeAssure solution is designed to improve WiFi coverage and performance, automatically optimizing the home network, and to facilitate setup and management for the growing number of WiFi devices and applications in the home.
The ARRIS HomeAssure Self-Service app deployment is intended to allow SaskTel subscribers to see which devices are on their home WiFi network and identify weak WiFi signal locations. It also allows users to improve signal quality through network extender placement, as well as set Internet access rules for authorized devices on the network. The deployment also includes ARRIS' broadband gateways and extenders.
"We're excited to work with ARRIS to bring our customers a top-tier WiFi experience that allows them to make the most of their internet connection, everywhere in their home," said Doug Burnett, SaskTel president and CEO. "This new technology solution also has the added benefit of creating new efficiencies for SaskTel that will help us to manage our operating and support costs for Internet service going forward."
SaskTel will use the HomeAssure solution in concert with ARRIS NVG448BQ residential gateways, VAP4641 wireless extenders, GPE2001 G.hn extenders, and the ECO Self-Service cloud-based WiFi management and mobile app.
"What makes a great WiFi experience is having the right combination of technology inside and outside of the broadband gateway," said Larry Robinson, senior vice president and segment leader, Customer Premises Equipment, at CommScope. "With the ARRIS HomeAssure solution, subscribers don't need to wait for a technical service visit in the event of an issue. They can resolve the issue themselves, instantly. Our work with SaskTel goes beyond fast and reliable WiFi, by taking a modern and holistic approach to providing the best WiFi experience to broadband subscribers."
