RCN has announced the availability of the Amazon Prime Video app through the company's TiVo set-top boxes. RCN's pay TV subscribers with an Amazon Prime membership can stream content via the Prime Video app on their TiVo devices. Grande Communications, which is owned by the same parent company as RCN, made a similar announcement last week.
Amazon Prime Video joins other streaming video services such as Netflix, HBOGO, Hulu, and others supported by RCN via voice commands using the TiVo voice remote and guide.
"RCN continues to integrate innovative and convenient options for our customers, and this Amazon collaboration exemplifies our commitment to providing the latest and greatest for our customers," said Chris Fenger, COO of RCN. "With the power of the Prime Video app now at our customers' fingertips, customers with a Prime membership will be able to watch critically acclaimed Prime Video originals such as 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' and 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' all without the need for additional equipment."
A compatible TiVo box, Internet services and an Amazon Prime membership are required to support the functionality.
