Altice USA (NYSE:ATUS) has expanded its network in New York to the Barrier Island communities of Gilgo, West Gilgo, and Oak Beach, bringing high-speed Internet service to the islands' residents for the first time.

The expansion of Optimum broadband services to Long Island's Barrier Islands is part of the company's commitment to the New NY Broadband Program, administered by the New York State Broadband Program Office, to expand high-speed broadband internet service to homes and businesses in unserved or underserved rural areas in the company's New York footprint.

"Through our partnership with New York State, Altice USA is pleased to expand our network to the Barrier Islands communities, bringing our advanced broadband service to local residents so they can connect in ways they've never done before," said Hakim Boubazine, Altice USA co-president and chief operating officer. "This is the latest step in our commitment to ensure that people across the Altice USA footprint have access to fast and affordable Internet connectivity."

Jeffrey Nordhaus, Empire State Development executive vice president of innovation and broadband, said, "We congratulate Altice USA on its expansion of high-speed Internet service in partnership with the Broadband Program Office, which will bring broadband to the Barrier Island communities for the very first time."

Barrier Island residents have the option of choosing from three Optimum symmetrical speed tiers that include unlimited data and free access to more than 2 million Optimum WiFi hotspots, with no annual contract and no early termination fees.
