At next week’s ANGA COM (May 10-12) show in Germany, CommScope (NASDAQ: COMM) will debut its cloud-to-edge suite of XGS-PON elements for greenfield and fiber-deep applications.
The SDN-enabled suite leverages three pillars, says CommScope, including: a flexible architecture; open, interoperable components; and cloud-based operation.
Ric Johnsen, SVP of CommScope and president the company’s connectivity and cable solutions business, commented, “CommScope helped pioneer the modern GPON and EPON access market, and now we’re introducing the next phase of evolution with our cloud-to-edge next-gen XGS-PON suite."
According to a press release, four components make up the new product suite: a new CommScope FLX PON OLT and ONU portfolio; the company's ServAssure domain management and ServAssure NXT performance management software; a range of fiber connectivity products; and complementary engineering and project management services.
The company says the ability to leverage SDN and open architecture capabilities will accelerate time to revenue and optimize capex; reduce opex, risk, and complexity; and help operators take advantage of new technologies and capabilities more quickly than with conventional approaches.
CommScope's Johnsen concluded, "The new PON solution suite leverages our access network expertise to unlock an unmatched range of capabilities in active and passive solutions across the many stages and topologies of fiber deployment. Together with our telco and cable operator customers, as well as new entrants in the FTTH deployment, CommScope will usher in the next generation of high-speed networks to deliver new services and experiences to millions of consumers around the world.”
