AFL brings Advanced Fiber Retention System (AFRS) to Cable-Tec Expo

As seen at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo '22, AFL says its new Advanced Fiber Retention System (AFRS) simplifies cable management by routing the company's loose tube and ribbon fiber-optic cable between its Apex splice trays.

AFL will introduce its Apex Advanced Fiber Retention System (AFRS) at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2022 (Sept. 19-22) in Philadelphia.

The fiber-optic cable, connectivity, accessories and equipment manufacturer says its new AFRS platform simplifies cable management by routing the company's loose tube and ribbon cable, including its Flat Matrix, SpiderWeb Ribbon (SWR), Tubed and Central Core products, between its Apex splice trays. The AFRS platform's V-Clip reduces installation time and frustration associated with tie wraps. Additionally, the mesh tubes in the AFRS kit are designed to protect ribbon fiber in mesh tubing between splice trays. When paired with the company's Apex sealed splice closures, the AFRS platform saves organizations time when installing and routing high-density fiber optic cables, contends AFL.

AFL says its Apex Sealed Splice Closures are designed to improve usability, decrease installation time, increase network reliability and increase density of fiber splices. Featuring a unique wedge-based sealing system with cable strain relief, cables are installed into the closure and sealed in seconds. Loose tube and ribbon cables can be installed together within the same closure. AFL notes its Apex closures protect optical fiber splices in both above- and below-grade applications in a butt configuration. The Apex X-2 and X-2S splice closure sizes have maximum capacities of 3,456 and 1,728 fibers, respectively, when using 200 µm SWR.
