Vexus Fiber brings broadband ISP footprint to Laredo, Texas

May 10, 2023
The ISP announced the launch of its fully fiber-optic 10 Gig broadband network into Laredo, Texas, with initial customer installations beginning this month.

Vexus Fiber has this month announced the launch of its fully fiber-optic broadband network into Laredo, Texas, with initial customer installations beginning on May 5. As the ISP starts to turn up homes and businesses, Vexus Fiber notes its 10 Gig network will allow multi-gigabit internet service and symmetrical speeds whereby residents and businesses will be able to enjoy high-speed internet that can support multiple users simultaneously.

Earlier this year, Vexus, a broadband service provider (BSP) to communities in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico, announced an expansion of its fiber broadband network to more residents in the Rio Grande Valley communities of Harlingen and McAllen, Texas, as part of a planned $200 million fiber build in that region. The ISP in January also announced its launch of a $250 million fiber broadband infrastructure construction project in Albuquerque.

Residents and businesses located in Vexus Fiber’s initial construction areas may now sign up for services to be installed. The ISP says its 10 Gig capable network is designed to provide customers with symmetrical gigabit speeds and a secure connection that protects personal information.

Vexus Fiber adds that its network is built to grow with the needs of the communities it serves. Headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, the ISP currently operates fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in Lubbock, Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Abilene, and surrounding areas in Texas, as well as Hammond, Covington, and Mandeville in Louisiana. The company is building new networks in the Rio Grande Valley, Tyler, Nacogdoches, Huntsville, Laredo, and San Angelo, Texas. Vexus Fiber is also expanding in Slidell, Lake Charles, Alexandria, and Pineville, Louisiana, as well as Las Cruces and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

As construction continues throughout a Vexus community, residents and businesses that are interested in Vexus Fiber services can visit the company's website to receive updates on construction and sign up for services. Residents in construction areas will receive advanced notice via mail, additional messaging, such as yard signs and door tags, to notify residents of when construction is beginning in their neighborhood. Vexus crews are marked by ID tags and branded vehicles.

Mark Bookout, regional vice president of operations for Vexus Fiber, commented, “Our team is dedicated to bringing Laredo a competitive choice for internet and entertainment that can adapt as needed. By investing in a 100% fiber-optic network, we are building for the future, and elevating Laredo to Gigacity status."

Jim Gleason, CEO of Vexus Fiber, concluded: “I am excited to announce our service availability in Laredo, The introduction of our reliable fiber-optic network to this community represents a major milestone in our commitment to infrastructure and economic development in every community we enter. Our investment in Laredo will allow us to provide one of the fastest internet connections to all community members, enabling both residents and businesses to meet their growing bandwidth needs. We at Vexus are dedicated to further enhancing the quality of life in Laredo through fast, reliable, fiber internet. Unlike traditional cable connections, Vexus’ fiber network provides greater reliability, ensuring that you stay connected even during peak usage periods.”

The following, recent customer-facing video from the company talks about the wide deployment of Vexus Fiber's 10 Gig network.
