March 27, 2024
The project is part of a $2 billion capital investment strategy.

On March 22, representatives of Kinetic, a fiber broadband provider, joined state and local officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the courthouse in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, to announce a new fiber network.

The 20-mile fiber network extension will reportedly provide ultrafast internet to 250 customer locations in the county, bringing the total number of homes, businesses, and schools in the county with access to Kinetic fiber to more than 1,220.

Jeanne Shearer, vice president of state government affairs at Kinetic, said in a press release, “Because of the commendable decision made by Beaver County leadership initiating this program, 62% of the customer locations in Kinetic’s territory within the county now have access to fiber. Additionally, in Kinetic’s commitment to Beaver County, fiber construction for several projects committed through the Federal Rural Digital Opportunity Fund program were completed almost five years ahead of schedule.”

The project was funded by public-private partnerships and the Federal Communications Commission’s Rural Digital Opportunity Fund program.
