In the Technology Challenge at the SCTE Canadian Summit in Toronto, Alcatel-Lucent, Aurora Networks, GENBAND, Juniper Networks and SeaChange International will demonstrate a variety of approaches designed to expand the capabilities of cable network architectures to reach new platforms and deliver new services. The Technology Challenge will begin at 8:45 a.m. March 8. Using mobile text messaging, Canadian Summit attendees will be able to vote for one of the five solutions as the "Technology Most Likely to Succeed." The winner will be announced during the luncheon later that day. At the challenge:

  • Alcatel-Lucent will demonstrate the Velocix Digital Media Delivery platform, a solution for secure, reliable delivery of subscription video services to a wide range of fixed and mobile consumer IP devices.

  • Aurora Networks will showcase the ability of its Light-Plex module and AT354G series of full-spectrum DWDM transmitters to manage CMAP-driven network realignment remotely as the number of narrowcast signals is increased.

  • GENBAND will demonstrate how its Visual Communications Suite, part of the expanding A2 applications portfolio, can allow subscribers access to and control over a variety of services on the TV set and other devices.

  • Juniper Networks will demonstrate Media Flow HTTP adaptive bit rate streaming and network caching to extend cable TV services to multi-screen devices over unmanaged networks.
