DirecTV (NASDAQ:DTV) is rolling out a wireless set-top, dubbed the Wireless Genie Mini (WGM), across its national footprint. A WGM is hooked up to each TV set in the home and communicates wirelessly with a DirecTV Genie hub via a Wireless Video Bridge, both of which must be professionally installed. The Genie connects to the whole-home network via coax wiring.

Each WGM acts like an HD DVR, allowing recording, pausing and rewinding live TV, with the ability to fast-forward and delete pre-recorded shows from any room in the home. If the Genie hub is connected to the Internet, subs also have access to DirecTV's on-demand programming.
